Libre Turtle

CLIENT:  Turtles on the Town |  www.turtlesonthetown.com

Charitable illustration project commissioned by the Community Foundation of Collier County, Florida. I was selected as one of 50 artists to receive a fiberglass sculpture of a loggerhead sea turtle, measuring roughly 5 feet tall. My concept celebrates the storied sport of lucha libre, adorning the turtle in the mask of a traditional Mexican luchador. Each piece of original tattoo flash embellished on its fins and shell represents a different aspect of southwest Florida culture and wildlife.

Libre is on public display as a part of the Turtles on the Town exhibition November 2015 through February 2016, purchased by a private party during a charitable auction thereafter. Proceeds to benefit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, the Community Foundation of Collier County, and the United Arts Council of Collier County.
